This is what I look like on a typical day– yesterday’s curls, minimal makeup *if any* & wearing jeans with a band tee. I work from home so I don’t get ready every single day (like makeup and hair) but I have found that I am much more diligent and focused when I at least put an outfit on. This photo on Instagram prompted a lot of DMs about the scar in between my eye brows. When I was 6 I wrecked a side-by-side into a telephone pole. I was riding around with my cousins at my grandmother’s farm and wasn’t paying attention (hello, I was 6) and ran right into a pole, my cousin bailed when he saw that I was about to wreck and I actually ran over his foot a little. I clearly busted my face wide open on the steering wheel and got 50some stitches in my face. When people realize I have a scar in the dead center of my face they ALWAYS ask if I am going to get it fixed… at this point in my life, it doesn’t bother me and it’s been part of my face for almost 20 years. To get it fixed, I would have to have a facial surgeon basically re-cut and stitch it back together. My face obviously grew as I got older and as I grew, my scar spread open a bit. When I am older and starting to wrinkle, this part might age quicker than the rest of my face and I might be more tempted to have it sliced back open and stitched tighter… but for now, it’s fine.
This is my most popular post in the last thirty days and for good reason. These sandals are everything this season and a HUGE hit among bloggers and influencers. They are a dead ringer for an Hermes style– but clearly at a MUCH better price point. They come in a ton of colors and I definitely want them in black and tan now that I know how comfortable they are. Sizing was the most popular question I got about this post: they run true to size, I am almost always a 7 and I wear these in a 7. Target has a pretty good version of these, too and they are under $20 HERE.
Shoutout to Instaram husbands– S took this photo of me one night before dinner because I was SO excited about this tee being on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I knew it was going to sell out quickly, so I couldn’t just wait until I met with Liz to shoot it. What do y’all think? Didn’t he kill it? It performed really well on Instagram, so do y’all want to see more shots like this? The question I got with this post was about my dainty bracelets that I always have on, they are all Cartier.
Yes yes yes I know– I’m wearing leather and booties in the middle of summer… BUT it’s for a good reason. As y’all know, it’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I have covered a lot of amazing things that are included in the sale, like THESE jeans (sold out in most sizes, but similar HERE), THIS tee and THIS leather jacket (also THIS similar one). The booties I am wearing are not part of the sale, but I did snag THESE and they are the prettiest color. A lot of y’all were wondering about similar pieces of the sold out items, so I’m putting them here for y’all.
Another quick snap of my favorite jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale– love that it is a little oversized, so you can wear sweaters underneath it, but it’s still flattering! Question on this post was about sizing– I’m wearing a small so I could layer it with sweaters this fall/winter.
I posted this on stories and it prompted several DMs about how the bootcamp was going… I think this was a popular question because I said that S and I were walking to A&W for Lexington Burger Week. 1– it’s a total of 3.5 miles to get there and back home sooo definitely deserved that burger and 2–I didn’t indulge in fries or the bun (I did have a diet root beer in a frosted mug cause I’m human).
I plan on doing a huge post on the bootcamp and my experience once it’s over (we’re in week 5 of the 6 week program) where I answer a ton of questions and share about my much I love it and why! I will say, the biggest plus about this program is– you can have it IF IT FITS IN YOUR MACROS. Now, I’ll admit that I haven’t stayed on top of the fitness as closely as I would have liked… but I have really focused on the nutrition part and I’ve still been SUPER pleased with the results. I plan on going hard in the gym this fall… but after the wedding workouts, I just wanted to take it easy and enjoy myself a little this summer. I LOVE the workouts from the bootcamp though and I can’t wait to get back into a daily fitness routine, I truly love the way it makes me feel. With all of that being said– between the 1-2x a week I do the bootcamp workouts, 4x a week I walk 3+ miles with B and 2x a week tennis lessons, it’s not like I’m not burning calories. Anywhooo, wanted to let y’all in on where I’m at fitness and nutrition wise since y’all like to know 🙂
This also got y’all curious about my Beaufort Bonnet Company t-shirt (aka my previous day job). After being there for over a year and a half, I decided to take on blogging full time in April. It was a month before the wedding and the timing just felt right, personally and professionally. It was truly the greatest job of all time with the greatest humans of all time, but I was ready to give my full attention to OTTEstyle.
…and this photo isn’t really stoppable and never graced @ottestyle, but I wanted to brag about having the cutest niece of all time. She’s seven months old and has me and S wrapped around her little finger.
